Alfresco Art by Helen NikandrouHelen Nikandrou is a designer and artist based in the New Forest.
She initially trained as a fashion designer during the 1970s, winning a Sirdar award for her unique sunray sweater which became a popular look around 1975. Later, in 1990s Helen became a commercial artist and graphic designer working mostly for leisure and women's magazines. In recent years, Helen has been exploring mixed mediums and new ideas in fine art to develop an original textured style using natural wood and clay modelling. The name Alfresco Art is inspired by scenes without borders to express the freedom of natural land, panoramas and seascapes. Helen aims to encourage the onlooker to imagine an endless panoramic and contemplate the experience of being in situ. Textures of wood grain are enhanced by acrylic paint and clay figures to create a 3D effect . Her artwork is mostly acrylic on wood or canvas, but watercolours are also undertaken for exhibitions and private commissions. Tel: 07854142256 |
