Wet Felt Making Workshops with Liz Broderick
Liz Broderick, a qualified art teacher that specialises in felt will take the workshop. There will be a maximum of 6 'students' to ensure you have full attention.
All materials are included, but she specialises in embedding silks etc. into felts and if you have specific materials you want to include you are welcome to bring them along.
The aim is to complete an item and have a knowledge of felt making.
Day will start at 10.30am and go on until you wish to leave, usually around 4.30pm.
There will be coffee, teas and cake on tap all day. Plus a light lunch included. £60 per person.

The Bag – using multiple resists
Tuesday 8th April 10.30am - 4.30pm Create a unique art piece that is useful as well as gorgeous. A basic shape that can be adapted by you, to suit you.
Using wool and the wet-felting technique, you will learn how to create a seamless, 3-D bag with an inside pocket. You may wish to add tabs, loops and magnetic clasp for closure. Choose from a variety of ways to decorate your bag or come with your own ideas. You will complete the workshop with a beautiful piece of your own artwork. |
Sketchbook/iPod Folder, including a sketchbook
Wednesday 9th April 10.30am - 4.30pm Using a ‘resist’ wool fibre, soap and water to create a seamless folder to hold a sketch book and pencil, or an IPod or purse.
To wrap around the folder, you will learn how to make a felted cord. Choose from a variety of colours and decorate in the creative way of your choice. |
Playtime – experiment and learn surface decoration
Sunday 25th May 10.30am - 4.30pm I call this ‘Play’ because it is an opportunity to use and experiment with wool and a host of fabrics and other fibres with no pressure to produce a completed product. What happens when you combine wool, silk fibres; cotton gauze; silk fabrics, paper etc.
Whilst ‘playing’ you may create one large abstract piece; a picture; several small pieces. Any of these could be mounted in a box frame, used as a wall hanging, mounted on canvas or cards, or filed away with notes on how you achieved these exciting textures. This is a fun day with all materials provided and advice and guidance on hand. |
Pods and Vessels – using a resist
Sunday 8th June 10.30am - 4.30pm You will produce a container or a decorative sculptural piece or used to contain a plant or flowers.
The shape is up to you. You will use a ‘resist’ to create a 2-dimensional shape and ‘magically’ produce it into a 3-dimensional vessel. The magic of wool will allow your creativity to burst forth! |
